I love to spend time in the countryside, it's calming and relaxing.  It just feels right.  But like most people, most of my time is spent in villages, towns and cities.  These human achievements are as much part of our environment as the mountains and oceans.  Love 'em or hate 'em, you can't escape their presence.  Let's face it, the camera I used to take these images and the computer I used to build this site, are the result of the human ability to create social groups and creatively work together for the benefit of the group.  Our achievements are wide ranging from simple carvings to welcome visitor to the grandest building that have stood for millennia, they all speak to the achievements of humanity.
